Veiled Odalisque

Chris Steele

Local artist Christopher Steele's latest exhibition "Odalisque" opens at the Gloucester Gallery this week. The 'Odalisque' is a traditional classical pose of the female nude, usually both provocative and glamorous. This body of work is an attempt to extend the classical nude pose and expose the intimate beauty of the female body juxtaposed with elements of the natural world. The works extend the concepts of drawing and photography, by including drawn images and combining different media. The imagery also uses the landscape as a reference for the context of the nude. Warning: this exhibition contains nudity that may offend some people. Everyone is invited to the official opening of "Odalisque" on Friday October 12th at 7pmy. The exhibition runs until November 4th.
