Heartbeats from Canada

Jean Buettel

Jean Buettel returned from the West Coast of Canada a few months ago and planned her next exhibition featuring the flora and fauna of that area. Following numerous exhibitions in her home town of Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario during the 2000’s featuring scenes and animals from Australia, she decided it would be fitting to paint the landscape and animals of British Columbia. The Rockies are so magnificent and the sea scapes and the fir trees are so different from what we know of the Australian landscape. Working mainly in oils on stretched canvas the paintings vary from the grizzly bears and wolves that were so amazing in the high country to the serenity of the shoreline from the mainland to Vancouver Island. If you have ever visited the Rocky Mountain area come and relive some of your memories and experiences at Jean’s exhibition “Heartbeats from Canada”

Paintings by John Marsh

Landscape is the main focus of Sydney artist John Marsh's work, using a contemporary, semi-abstract style in acrylics with some mixed media and collage. On show from March 6 - 30

Strangely Familiar

Adele Compton

Adele's flamboyant and spirited nature reverberates throughout this exciting and joyful exhibition. Her work is creative, artistic and strong . Adele's life long photography passion often takes her down a winding path of mixed mediums. Her works search for a common element of humour and often embark on a rebellious journey. "Strangely Familiar" exhibition is mystical, explosive and adventurous. These photographic art masterpieces have clarity and freshness that enables the viewer to see beyond the contours and shapes of the forest. All images been be beautifully presented using state of the art mounting which has completed the professionalism of this exhibition. The photo shoot was shot in the fabulous Copeland Tops State Conservative Area...We promise you will feel the magic that Adele has captured. All models and assistants are to be congratulated on their part of the exciting shoot. Adele's images convey the essence of what it is like to be human with a honest and deliberate exploration of human emotions portraying fragility and sensuality in a magical wonderland. Adele's natural felt fibre wearable art is an absolute joy, exploding with brightness and excitement . Each colourful art beanie is an unique expression from Adele's rich imaginative world. We expect to see many colourful beanies being worn in Gloucester and Barrington this winter. The opening of "Strangely Familiar" is on 4th April 2014 6.30pm Gloucester Gallery. Adele would like to invite all artists, GACCI members and her friends to join her at the opening of the exhibition. How lucky are we to be able to dance the night away with the famous local band In like Flynn. The night will be opened by well known artist photographer Robert Bignell from the Hunter.

Something In Between

Jean Spokes

"Something in between" is a collaboration of works created on & from three caravanning trips that Gary & I have travelled over the last three years. The first was through inland NSW & Queensland to "The Tip" at Cape York, the Farthest North we could go. The second covered lower NSW to Birdsville then up through "Central Australia". I loved the excitement of painting the amazing colours around the gorges near Alice Springs. Kakadu areas landscapes range from grand panoramas, massive rock formations, billabongs & crocodile infested rivers where an Artist maintains high alertness of their Plein-Air painting surroundings. Early 2014 we enjoyed the "Southern" areas of Australia to as far south as we could drive in the Tasmanian state. The pristine waters of this area have to be seen to believe how clear H2o can actually be & how special this area is in Australia. The wind temperature also needs to be felt. The "Something in Between" is around Gloucester, where we live & love the people, countryside, mountains, rivers & farmlands All these areas have a variety of wonderful birds specific to their area. Some stay in a small area & do repetitive movements so can be painted in situ while others species need photography to paint back in the studio situation. I hope you enjoy this exhibition as I have enjoyed my painting journey.

Reinterpreted

Max Dupain Reinterpreted

More than 60 years ago, Max Dupain, the renowned Australian Modernist photographer, took pictures of the landscape in and around Gloucester. On loan from the Manning Regional Art Gallery in Taree, these pictures will form the core of the "Max Dupain Reinterpreted" exhibition from November 6 to 3, 2014. Twenty local artists, writers and musicians have been invited to re-interpret Mr. Dupain's vision of the region. Paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, photographs as well as poems, creative writing and musical pieces intend to demonstrate the inspiration today's artists derive from a master who established photography as a recognized art form. Jill White, Max Dupain's long time friend and assistant will be at the Gallery on November 30 to present the "People's Choice" awards. Please join us at this event which will feature readings of the written pieces and a musical performance. The Gallery is open Monday - Saturday 10am - 4pm and Sunday 10am - 1pm for the duration of this exhibition.
