Max Dupain Reinterpreted

Thursday 6 November 2014 - Sunday 30 November 2014

More than 60 years ago, Max Dupain, the renowned Australian Modernist photographer, took pictures of the landscape in and around Gloucester.

On loan from the Manning Regional Art Gallery in Taree, these pictures will form the core of the "Max Dupain Reinterpreted" exhibition from November 6 to 3, 2014.

Twenty local artists, writers and musicians have been invited to re-interpret Mr. Dupain's vision of the region. Paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, photographs as well as poems, creative writing and musical pieces intend to demonstrate the inspiration today's artists derive from a master who established photography as a recognized art form.

Jill White, Max Dupain's long time friend and assistant will be at the Gallery on November 30 to present the "People's Choice" awards. Please join us at this event which will feature readings of the written pieces and a musical performance.

The Gallery is open Monday - Saturday 10am - 4pm and Sunday 10am - 1pm for the duration of this exhibition.
